Memorial Assistance Ministries Hurricane Relief

Dear Friends,

This week has been devastating for Texas, and in particular, Houston.  My heart goes out to everyone who has suffered loss during this catastrophic storm.  It will take many months for life to become normal again.

Your prayers give us strength and endurance for the road ahead.  I marvel at the strong, capable, smart and compassionate beings God created and taught over history.  We will use everything He has taught us to get through this. Together.

We will re-open tomorrow with staff and scheduled volunteers who are able to travel safely to MAM to provide disaster recovery services.  From Thursday, August 31st through Sunday, September 3rd, we will be open from 10:00 to 4:00.  On Labor Day, we will be open from 10:00 to 3:00.

In addition to regular assistance services, we will be providing Harvey Hospitality.  The lobby, computer lab and classrooms will be open for phone charging and hospitality.  We expect that persons who have been house-bound will enjoy some socialization and conversation.  As we are able, we will offer financial guidance and information about post-storm resources.

Many of you would like to help and we are prepared to accept your help with deep gratitude.  Please visit maministries.org/disasterrelief for ways YOU can help a neighbor in need.

The long road to recovery will be just that, but we know our God created us with many amazing abilities.

With much love and heart,

Martha Macris

Help Families Affected by Hurricane Harvey

As you may know, MAM's service area covers a large portion of northwest Houston. While MAM is not an official First Responder, families turn to us during times of crisis for help, and we have done what we can in times like Katrina, Ike, the floods over the last two years, as well as other smaller more local crises like apartment fires. We expect that it may take a few days before people start to contact us because they are in crisis mode, and are either in shelters or trying to clean out their homes. Oftentimes people go to relatives for safe shelter and then turn to MAM for help.
MAM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.

MAM is able to accept donations of:

  • Toiletries (Deodorant, Bar Soap, Shampoo, Lotion, Disposable Razors, Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Hygiene Products)
  • New Socks / Underwear (all sizes)
  • Flood Buckets (pail, cleaner, bleach, trash bags, gloves, cleaning brushes/sponges)
  • Home Care Packs (Laundry Detergent, Dish Detergent, Household Cleaner, Bar Soap, Paper Towels, Toilet Paper, Tissues, Garbage Bags)
  • Gift Cards for grocery stores, Walmart, Target
Or make a monetary donation online.
